The way I study English~~~

I started to learn English with my heart since I was in high school.

I think the most basic points of learning English are grammar and vocabulary. Because if we know the grammer, we know which part comes first and what is next( subject, verb, object etc.). And after we master a certain amount of vocabulary, we can make our speech more concrete and explicit by using the proper vocabulary. Next I think the more important point is we should try to practise speaking English. The more we speak, the better we will become. Sometimes I think speaking out is more impressive than memorizing directly.

Nowadays I just keep reading some English materials to improve the comprehensive ability of Englihs, at the same time, I think it's a good way to increase the vocabulary. I also focus on the spoken part.

And how do you study Englsih? Let's just share~~~

Experiences~~~

I have been in Korea about three years.Even though it was not my request to come here, however, when I look back to these three years, I think I chose the right road.

Before I came to Korea, my mom would be in charge of everything, from the big decisions to the small decisions. At that time, I think I can't live without my parents. But now I think it's a good choice for me to be away from my parents, because living alone helps me to grow up and quickly adapt to this society. Since I came to Korea, a lot of decisions have been made by myself and I have to solve a number of things without my parents. At first, I felt fearful, but gradually, I'm accustomed to this kind of life. Even though sometimes I made wrong decisions and I felt shameful, but I didn't regret. Because when I experience something by myself, I can realize and know how serious they are and know how to face and solve this kind of problems next time.

I'm growing and I'm also changing. I'm looking for myself through the different experiences. I try to find out what kind of person I am and what kind of person I want to be. My experiences are guiding me to get into road which belongs to me.
Another great thing for me is I learned another new cultures and customs here. And I hope my life will be more and more colorful~~~

The Persn Who I Admire

I'll introduce an author who I admire.

William Faulkner (1897~1962):

He was one of the most influential writers of the 20th century, famous for his novels, novellas and short stories. He awarded the Nobel Prize in 1949.

Faulkner’s life was full of difficulties. Firstly, the big contrast between his father and mother led to the separation of the family. So since Faulkner was young, he suffered from the pains of separation of family. Secondly, because of his weak father, Faulkner was considered as a hopeless person, so he failed in getting married with his lover. Thirdly, when Faulkner felt nothing left for him, and the WWI happened at this time,  he wanted to do some contributions to his country. However, his short height made him fail in attending the military, that’s why he changed his identity to join the England military being as a pilot. The frustrated thing was when he finished the training, WWI was also ended. Even though, Faulkner continued to confront the difficulties and challenges in his life, he didn’t give up. He started to step into the road of literature by his imagination. Finally, he succeeded, becoming a famous author.

I admire his spirits, never giving up himself. There are many different kinds of troubles in our life, we may give up doing something, but we should never give up ourselves. I still believe “Heaven never seals off all the exits”.

Works:

1. The Sound and the Fury (1929): It introduces the significant but decadent Compson family in a remarkably structured story.

2. As I Lay Lying (1930): It reveals the psychological relationships of a subnormal poor-white family on a pilgrimage to bury their mother.

3. Light in August (1932): It was filled with horror, however, it is a more balanced contrast of positive and negative forces of life in its presentation of violent adventures involved in the relations between men and women, black and white.

4. Absalom, Absalom! (1936): It set in early 19th-century Jefferson, shows the tragic downfall of the dynastic desires of the planter Colonel Sutpen.
